Annette Bening

Annette Bening (* May 29, 1958 in Topeka, Kansas ) is an American actress.

Bening studied in San Francisco acting and then played for years theater. After a Tony nomination in 1987 and minor roles in television productions, she received in 1989 in the adaptation of the epistolary novel Dangerous Liaisons by Choderlos de Laclos, the role of Catherine Merteuil in the film Valmont by Milos Forman. The theater experienced actress succeeded with this film breakthrough in Hollywood.

Already for the role in the resulting one year later film The Grifters by Stephen Frears she was nominated for an Oscar. She succeeded again in 2000 for which she received the role of the wife of Kevin Spacey in the award-winning film American Beauty by Sam Mendes, in the same year the London Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress.

In 2005 she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of a bored London theater diva in the film Being Julia, for which she was nominated a third time for an Oscar. For the part of a successful, lesbian doctor in The Kids Are All Right (2010) she again won the Golden Globe and the price of Film Critics Association of New York and an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.

Annette Bening is married to his second wife since 1992, with Warren Beatty. They have four children together: Kathlyn (* 1992), Benjamin (* 1994), Isabel (* 1997) and Ella Corinne (* 2000).
