Lidingöloppet

The Lidingöloppet is a Swedish competition in cross-country running over a distance of 30 kilometers. Is organized by the sport club IFK Lidingö.

For the first time the competition was run in 1965 carried out. Of the 644 registered participants then reached 512 runners the goal. The race has since reported increasing numbers of participants and was the world's largest event of this kind in 1982 already it has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records. The Lidingöloppet had in 2012 more than 44,000 registered participants.

The Lidingöloppet is part of an overall competition, the classic Swedish called, and consists of individual long-distance races in various sports. The field is made up of professional athletes and recreational runners.
