Liebenwalde
Love the forest is an official free, district town in the district of Upper Havel in Brandenburg. The current city was created in 2003 through the merger of five formerly independent communities and the nucleus, the city of love forest.

Geography
The city is located 21 km north-east of Oranienburg on the main road 167 are the Voss channel, the Long junk, the Oder- Havel Canal, the River Havel and the Mühlensee, the Bever Insee and the elongated Wutzsee in the surrounding area.

History
Around the year 1200 Ascanians built a castle on an existing Castle Hill. The foundation was probably 1232. 1244 in any event, love the wood is first mentioned in documents as Leven forest. The oldest known city seal dates from the year 1349.

Demographics
The population in the area of today love the forest has changed since the beginning of the 20th century developed more slowly than the population of Brandenburg. One last thrust brought the refugees from the former eastern territories of Germany. Since the late 1940s, the population is gradually decreasing. The projections foresee a further decline.

The coat of arms was approved on 18 November 2004.
Blazon: " Argent, a rooted green lime, beseitet right of a silver, hanging from a branch triangular shield, topped with a gold braided red eagle, and left a pot helmet with a black flight, covered with fallen golden lime leaves. "

Museums
Heritage Museum Liebenwalde in the former city jail
The city of love Walde received in 1878 a district court. The old town hall was too small and so the present Town Hall was built in a very short time.
