International significance and subjective comparison with the German League

Together with the German 1st Handball Bundesliga was the league ASOBAL years as the strongest Handball league in the world. In this case, there was a significant difference in performance between European Cup participants and the remaining teams: While the European Cup participants belonged to the world's best and the German top teams were at least equal, the lower Spanish teams were usually farther from the tip than the corresponding German teams. Due to the economic crisis, many Spanish clubs big financial problems, what second absolute world- class team, culminating in the withdrawal from the ASOBAL Atlético Madrid, next to FC Barcelona. So Barcelona dominated currently without significant competition the league without a loss point and with an average goal difference of about 15 per game (as of February 2014). The attendances is to play in Spain by far not as high as in Germany, a reason for some top players, not in the league ASOBAL ( for example, Lars Krogh Jeppesen in his move from FC Barcelona for THW Kiel). The German handball league is also true as physically demanding and unfair for other top players (such as Ivano Balic or Nenad Peruničić ) a reason to play, especially in Spain and stay. Balic has, however 2013/14 the challenge of Bundesliga and hired at the HSG Wetzlar. It also set in the League ASOBAL more on the individual abilities of each player and less on tactics and collective, which is especially Southeast European players who have been trained according to the traditional Yugoslav school, located cometh; Scandinavian players, in their training just more emphasis was placed on team unity, come up with this way of playing cope rather less. In the EHF Champions League both leagues are currently about equally strong, in the past nine years, won five Spanish teams German teams and title four times. The second highest European competition, however, the EHF Cup, has been in the past 10 years, more of the German team won (as of the end of the 2012/13 season ).
