Liga ASOBAL 2009–10

The 2009/2010 season was the 50th in the history of the league ASOBAL, the top division of the Spanish handball. BM Ciudad Real was the defending champion, who won their fourth title in the previous season.

The season began on Saturday, September 11, 2009, and ended Saturday, May 15, 2010., The leader after the 30th Round was automatically Spanish Champion 2010. A total of 16 teams competed for the championship, of which only 14 teams in the season had contested the 2008/ 09, and had risen from which two of the División de Honor B.

The number of participants on because European cups is governed by the EHF ranking. The participants in the European Cup Winners' Cup was established only after the final of the Copa del Rey de Balonmano. The League ASOBAL had 4 EHF Champions League places, because before the main round one qualifying tournament was still played. In this clubs were chosen which should increase the level of the EHF Champions League. At this qualifying tournament, a national league team took part.
