Liga Occidental De Jalisco

The League Amateur de Jalisco, also known as Liga de Occidente, was a football tournament between clubs from the Mexican state of Jalisco, which was held 1908-1943. The League was over long distances as the second largest football competition in Mexico prior to the introduction of professional football. A higher status enjoyed at that time only known as the Primera Fuerza capital League. With the introduction of the Primera División in 1943, the league amateur de Jalisco has been set.

The problem of the top clubs from Guadalajara was that football in Jalisco was actually an amateur event, while in the capital flowed funds and other perks. Thus, the clubs from Jalisco lost again and again their best players to the wealthy teams from the capital. Especially the army club Marte and funded by energy companies Luz y Fuerza Club Necaxa stood out in this regard, bringing many top players from Jalisco to enrich their teams to the capital. This weakened by clubs from Guadalajara always crucial.
