Liliidae

The lily -like ( Liliidae ) formed in many nomenclatures a subclass of monocot plants ( Liliopsida ) with many important species mainly in the subtropics. In Central Europe, primarily the lily -like ( Liliales ) and the asparagus -like ( Asparagales ) significant. Among other things, among them the lilies, tulips, daffodils and orchids.

Description

There usually are herbaceous plants that form often outlasting such as tubers, rhizomes or bulbs. They usually have long, narrow parallel venation leaves. The flowers are almost always in threes. Often the perianth is not divided into calyx and corolla; the two petal circles always have a different development than the rose -like ( Rosidae). They are usually pollinated by insects.
