Lilyana Tomova

Lilyana Tomowa ( born August 9, 1946 as Lilyana Todorova ) is a former Bulgarian athlete.

She was from 1967 to 1969 as well as 1972 and 1973 Bulgarian champion in the 400 -meter run. In 1972, she was national champion in the 800 -meter run. At the European Indoor Championships 1973, she was over 400 meters to the semifinals. A year later at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg she qualified for the finals in the 800 meters. They, however, did not occur in the final, but focused on the 4x2 lap relay. She joined as first leg of the Bulgarian season at that season won silver behind the Swedes, but there were only two squadrons.

So to the European Championships 1974 in Prague, she traveled to no particular merit. The Bulgarian world record holder Swetla Slatewa did not occur at over 800 meters and the national champion Nikolina Schterewa bowed out from. Lilyana Tomowa won in 1:58,1 minutes the 800 - meter dash at 0.7 seconds ahead of the current national record Gunhild Hoffmeister from the GDR. Four days later fought again Hoffmeister and Tomowa for the title, this time in the 1500 meter race. Hoffmeister won in 4:02,3 minutes with national record, Todorova was running in second with 4:05,0 minutes as national record as the third-placed Norwegian Grete Andersen with 4:05,2 minutes.

At the European Indoor Championships in Munich in 1976 Tomowa won in 2:02,6 minutes behind silver Schterewa. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal Tomowa difference in 2:01,97 out in the semifinals. Even with the Bulgarian 4x400 - meter relay team did not reach the final.

Lilyana Tomowa was 1.68 m tall, her competition weight was 57 kg.
