Lime Kiln Valley AVA

Lime Kiln Valley AVA ( recognized since June 4, 1982) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area lies in the western part of the administrative area of ​​San Benito County and is part of the larger Central Coast AVA and San Benito AVA. Immediately south of the Cienega Valley AVA joins.

The sandy loam soil is interspersed with pebbles and rests on a base of limestone and dolomite. The summer daily temperatures are so here late maturing varieties are used at 29-35 ° C. The wine region is especially known for its old Mourvèdre vines.
