San Benito AVA

The recognized since 5 October 1987 San Benito AVA is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area lies in the western part of the administrative area of ​​San Benito County and is part of the larger Central Coast AVA. About an opening between the Gabilan Range and the Santa Lucia Mountains, the area of the cooling mist and sea breezes of the Pacific is achieved. The area was once a major supplier of grapes to the winery Almaden Vineyards before it was acquired by the conglomerate Constellation Brands in 1987.
