Lionel Royer

Lionel Royer ( Lionel -Noël Royer, born December 25, 1852 in Château- du- Loir, Sarthe, † June 30, 1926 in Neuilly -sur -Seine, Hauts -de -Seine département ) was a French painter.

Life

At the beginning of the Franco-German war Royer joined the army. Under General Athanase de Charette de La Contrie (1832-1911) Royer fought in the Battle of Loigny and Poupry and fell on this by his bravery. After the war, the General untertstützte through its own resources Royer and enabled him by visiting the École des Beaux -Arts (EBA ) in Paris. There Royer was among other things a pupil of Alexandre Cabanel and William Adolphe Bouguereau.

With 73 years Lionel Royer died in June 1926 in Neuilly -sur -Seine and found his final resting place in the cemetery of Fontenay -aux -Roses ( Hauts -de -Seine département ).

Royer was married and had two daughters and a son.
