Liptovská Štiavnica

Liptovská Štiavnica ( until 1927 slovak " Štiavnica " - until the 19th century " VeLka Štiavnica "; Hungarian Nagyselmec ) is a municipality in Okres Ružomberok within the Žilinský in northern Slovakia at 1066 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011).

Geography

The community is located at the western end of the basin Liptovská kotlina, the western part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina on the corridor of the creek Selmec. The center is located at an altitude of 561 m nm and is seven kilometers from Ruzomberok.

Neighboring municipalities are Štiavnička and Lisková in the north, Liptovské Sliače in the east, Partizánska Ľupča the southeast, Liptovská Lúžna in the south, Ružomberok in the southwest and Ludrová in the West.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1300 as Sceunicha writing and belonged to local nobles as Štiavnický or Rakovszky.

1784 were counted 83 houses and 704 inhabitants in 1828 and 79 houses and 777 inhabitants.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Liptovská Štiavnica 1,049 inhabitants, of whom 1,035 Slovaks, Czechs four, two Hungarians, a Pole and a resident of the other ethnic group. Six residents did not know. 806 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, the Evangelical Church 94 inhabitants A. B, eight residents of the Greek Catholic Church and four residents for evangelistic church; two residents were of a different denomination. 81 residents were non-denominational and 54 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
