Liptovská Teplá

Liptovská Teplá ( until the 19th century Slovak " Teplá "; German Bad Liptsch, Hungarian Liptótepla - to 1892 Tepla ) a municipality in Okres Ružomberok within the Žilinský is kraj in Slovakia, with about 1,000 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality is located in the extreme west of the valley Podtatranská kotlina on the right bank of the Waag at the confluence with the stream Teplianka. North of the village, the Chočské raise Hills. It is located 10 km east of Ružomberok and 16 kilometers west of Liptovsky Mikulas.

In addition to the main village belongs to the municipality and the district Madočany (since 1960; 1913-1960 was part of the neighboring municipality Lúčky ). Furthermore, there was a neighbor of Ivachnová 1976-1990 a part of Liptovská Teplá.

History

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1264, but its existence is proved already in the 11th century. The named after the flowing stream Teplianka place was the seat of a royal dominion, but this reduced in the 13th and 14th centuries due to numerous village -ups more and more. Teplá belonged to the 16th century to the manor of Castle Likava, then was in possession of lower nobles. Since the 18th century the town developed as a market town.

The population engaged in agriculture, livestock, wood processing and timber rafting.
