Liptovský Michal

Liptovsky Michal ( Slovak to 1955 " Liptovsky Svaty Michal "; Hungarian Szentmihály ) is a municipality in Okres Ružomberok within the Žilinský in the north of Slovakia with 296 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011).

Geography

The municipality is located in the basin Liptovská kotlina, a subunit of Podtatranská kotlina at the mouth of the creek Ľupčianka in the Waag ( over the reservoir Bešeňová ). The center is located at an altitude of 526 m nm and is seven miles from Ruzomberok.

Neighboring municipalities are Bešeňová in the north, Vlachy in the east, the south and Partizánska Ľupča Ivachnová in the West.

History

The village was founded in the 13th century on the territory of the village Ľupča and was for the first time in 1331 as Ecclesia S. Michaelis, 1335 then mentioned as Mysalfalva writing. The village belonged to the parish in neighboring Liptovská Teplá, in the 18th century, the Rady family from Ivachnová. In the 17th and 18th centuries there was a paper mill or iron hammer. 1828 were counted 16 houses and 134 inhabitants.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Liptau place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today. In 1924 he was affiliated with the church Ivachnová, but was independent again in 1955, this time without the attribute " Svätý " ( = holy ), which was undesirable in communist Czechoslovakia.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Liptovsky Michal 297 inhabitants, of whom 282 Slovaks and Roma and each one Russine; a resident had a different ethnic group. 12 inhabitants did not know. 223 inhabitants pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, the Evangelical Church of the ten inhabitants, four inhabitants of the Greek Catholic Church and three residents of United Methodist Church; four residents were other denomination. 35 residents were non-denominational and 18 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.

Traffic

The nearest train station is in Liptovská Teplá ( railway Žilina - Košice ). By Liptovsky Michal the road runs 1st order 18 and there is a connection to the highway D1 on the nearby junction Ivachnová.
