Lisa Opie

Lisa Opie, MBE (born 15 August 1963 Guernsey ) is a former England squash player.

Career

Lisa Opie began her career in 1984. In March 1988, she reached for two months the top of the world rankings. Already in her junior career, she became world champion when she defeated 1981 Martine Le Moignan with 9:4, 9:6 and 10:8 in Ottawa. In the active region could not repeat that success, though she could twice to reach the final of the World Championships. So she succumbed in 1985 to Susan Devoy with 4:9, 5:9 and 8:10. Two years later she was again compared to Susan Devoy and had to deal with 3:9, 8:10 and 2:9 suffered another defeat.

At the British Open, she reached the finals five times. In the years 1982 and 1983 she succumbed Vicki Cardwell, 1984 and 1986 again Susan Devoy. In 1991 she won against Sue Wright their first and only title at the British Open. She won in the final with 6:9, 9:3, 9:3 and 9:4. In the years 1981, 1986 and 1987, she became British national champion.

In 1995, she ended her career. In the same year she became a member of the Order of the British Empire.
