Lisbon Theatre and Film School

The Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema ( ESTC ) is the Theatre and Film School of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. It is the successor of the National Conservatory ( Conservatorio Nacional). The ESTC is divided into the departments of theater ( Departamento de Teatro ) and film ( Departamento de Cinema ).

History

The ESCT goes back to the National Conservatory, which in turn fell to the decision of 1836, with the Almeida Garrett was tasked with the establishment of a national theater and a corresponding Theatre School.
