List of cities in Benin

This is a list of cities in Benin.

By far the largest agglomeration in Benin is the region around the seat of government Cotonou, Porto Novo is the capital, with a population of 2,418,959 (as of 1 January 2006). In order for a third of the country's population is concentrated in the area.

The following table contains the cities of over 20,000 inhabitants, the results of the Census ( Census ) of 15 March 1979 on 15 February 1992, and February 15, 2002 and an estimate by the National Statistics Office ( INSAE ) on 15 February 2006. Credited is also the department to which the city belongs. The inhabitants numbers refer to the respective city in the narrower sense - the geographical area the city - not the city or municipality in the political sense.
