List of cities in North Korea

This is a list of cities in North Korea.

By far the largest agglomeration in North Korea is Pyongyang with a population of 3,702,757 (as of 1 January 2005). Thus 16 percent of the country's people live in the capital region.

The following table lists the cities are over 30,000 inhabitants, whose name in German transcription and in Korean ( Hangul and Hanja ), and the higher-level administrative unit ( province ), to which the city is listed. Pyongyang and Rason are under central government administration and belong to any province. The population figures are calculated for January 1, 2005 and relate to the actual city without suburban belt.
