List of universities in Denmark

This is a list of universities and colleges in Denmark. The university system in Denmark consists of nine state universities as the highest educational institutions in the country, of which five full universities and four mono -disciplinary / specialized universities.

After that follow the educational system a total of 20 art schools and 23 so-called centers for continuing education (Danish: Centre for Videregående Uddannelser ); the latter mostly with teaching emphasis in technical, natural, social or economic science courses, comparable to German colleges.

Universities

The nine universities sometimes differ much in size, academic profile and orientation, but offer all educational and research- based studies and doctors degrees (even bachelor, master and PhD).

Figures for 2004. Financial expenses at Danish universities amounted in 2005 to a total of 1.9 Mrd.Euro.

In January 2007, some (previously ) independent institutions were as faculties incorporated into other universities ( Aarhus University, University of Copenhagen) - these are no longer listed separately here.

Art colleges

The universities with artistic orientation under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture in 2011, however, some assigned to the newly created Ministry for research, innovation and higher education.
