The Blue Red Gromwell ( Buglossoides purpurocaerulea, Syn: Lithospermum purpurocaeruleum ), also known as Blue Red Purple Blue ox tongue or Gromwell, is a species of bovine tongues ( Buglossoides ) of the family Boraginaceae ( Boraginaceae ). Description

The Blue Red Gromwell is an herbaceous plant that reaches the plant height of about 20 to 60 cm. The stems are arching to and can form at their ends resting on the ground roots. The leaves are lanceolate with a conspicuous midrib on its underside.

The flowers are borne in a racemose inflorescence. The hermaphrodite, radiärsymmetrische flower has a diameter of 10 to 15 mm. The petals are fused with Roehrig wide funnel-shaped spread- hem, inside with hairy stripes. It is the blossoming red - violet, the color changes later in a deep blue over (hence the name part " blue-red "). The flowering period extends from April to June.

Dissemination
