Ljubiša Simić

Ljubisa Simic, Serbian Cyrillic: Љубиша Симић ( born February 1963 in Smederevo ) is a former Yugoslav- Serbian boxer.

In 1982 he was Yugoslav champion in the adult, a title he could win multiple times and in different weight classes for the first time. He also won among others the Balkan championships 1981 in Pula, the Balkan Championships 1987 in Pristina and the Mediterranean Games in 1991 in Athens. In the Balkan Championships 1980 in Pernik, he won bronze at the Mediterranean Games in 1983 in Casablanca silver.

He achieved his greatest success in June 1985, by winning the gold medal in the bantamweight ( up to 54 kg) at the 26th European Championships in Budapest. He had it enforced against Pawel Madura, Czech Republic ( 5-0 ), Klaus -Dieter Kirchstein, DDR (4:1), Tibor Botoš, Hungary ( 4-1) and Alexandar Hristov, Bulgaria ( 4:1). In addition, he won the bronze medal in the bantamweight in the World Cup 1985 in Seoul and 1987 in Belgrade.

In 1984 he took bantamweight at the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and 1988 Featherweight at the Summer Olympic Games in Seoul in part, different but both times in the first fight against Mechak Kasarian, Soviet Union and Pedro Nolasco, Dominican Republic,.

In 1993 he became professional in Serbia, defeating, among others, Paul Kaoma in Zambia ( Record: 20-1) and the undefeated Argentine Alberto Sicurella ( 23-0 ), which in 1995 he became an International Master of WBC lightweight. Although he lost the title in the first defense by Ko to the Italian Silvano Usini, however, won the 1996 Intercontinental Championship IBF lightweight against Oscar Palomino, Spain. Following a title defense against Antonio Strabello, Italy, he lost the title in a rematch against Palomino. He ended his professional career in 2005 with a record of 13-3.
