Locomondo

Locomondo is a seven -piece band from Athens in Greece, which combines reggae and ska with elements of traditional Greek music.

History

The first album of the band, Enas TRELOS cosmos ( Ένας Τρελός Κόσμος, A crazy world '), was published in 2004 in the Greek label MBI. 2005 the band traveled to Jamaica and where he took her second album 12 Meres stin Jamaica ( 12 Μέρες στην Jamaica, 12 days on Jamaica ') on. A certain amount of notoriety outside of Greece gained Locomondo, as the radio station Radio Europe and Radio France Internationale recorded their song Stin Athina ( Στην Αθήνα, in Athens ') in their rotation. 2007 joined the singer Markos Koumaris with the band Beat ' n Blow in Berlin and won with them the music competition at the Carnival of Cultures. Locomondo played as the opening act, among other things for Manu Chao, The Skatalites, Chumbawamba, Ojos de Brujo and Amparanoia. With Amparo Sánchez They also worked together on their third album "Me Wanna Dance " together, which appeared in 2005.

In 2008, the band wrote the soundtrack for the film To gamilio party ( Το γαμήλιο πάρτυ ) Greek director Christine Crokos. 2009 they were represented on the soundtrack to the film Soul Kitchen Fatih Akin with the song Frangosyriani ( Φραγκοσυριανή ), which is a cover version of a rebetiko - piece of Markos Vamvakaris. Since 2008 Locomondo is the record company Music Box under contract.

Locomondo worked with famous Greek musicians, including the singer Eleni Dimou and the rock musician Vasilis Papakonstantinou, with whom she the song Kitharistas tou theou ( Κιθαρίστας του θεού ) recordings. At their 2010 published on the occasion of the Football World Cup Single Goal! they turned a video along with the national team Dimitrios Salpingidis.

The texts of Locomondo are mostly written in Greek or English. The repertoire of the band but also includes songs in German. The Single Goal! Locomondo published in Germany with German text under the title gate! In April 2011, published Locomondo with the compilation Best of her first album in the international market, which includes a cover version of the hit song Greek wine by Udo Jürgens. The album was released in 2012 in a limited edition as picture vinyl.
