Lopeník

Lopeník ( German Lopenik ) is a municipality in Okres Uherské Hradiště in the Czech Republic. It is located 15 km south-east of Uherský Brod in the White Carpathians and is part of the region Zlín.

Geography

Surrounded by forested mountains scattered settlement located north of the border with Slovakia in the valley of Hrubár. To the south, the Maly raise Lopeník ( 881 m) and the underlying Velky Lopeník (911 m).

Neighboring towns are Bystřice pod Lopeníkem in the north, Vápenice in the northeast, and Vyškovec Výškovecké Bošáčky in the southeast, southwest, and Sucha Loz Březova in the northwest.

History

Lopeník was created in 1791 by the establishment of individual huts in the wake of deforestation. Residents of the remote village living from the livestock industry and the timber industry and the manufacture of tools and art objects made ​​of wood. Some of them earned their living in a foreign country. In the 20th century, the tourist development of the area began.
