Lorenz Ritter

Lorenz Ritter ( * November 24, 1832 in Nuremberg, † September 3, 1921 ) was a German painter and engraver and pupil of Carl Alexander Heideloff.

Lawrence Knight is the younger brother of the deaf painter Paul Ritter ( 1829-1907 ). He studied how this painting and graphics at the School of Applied Arts Nuremberg, traveled with his brother Germany, France, Italy and Austria.

Knight was particularly well known for its architecture images and prints from the old Nuremberg. Among his most famous paintings include " The Beautiful Fountain in the main market in Nuremberg ", "The tabernacle in the Lorenz Church" and " The Wöhrdertorbastei "; prevalence found his folio work with etchings "Picturesque Views of Nuremberg " ( 1871-1876 ). Together with his brother Johann Georg Riegel (1832-1904), who was also a painter, he founded the Graphic Studio knights and bars.

Three of the sons Lorenz Knight, Paul Knight the Younger (1859-1888), Wilhelm Ritter (1860-1948) and Fritz Ritter (1868-1888) were also active as artists. Lorenz worked closely with his brother Paul Knight, as long as he lived.

To mark the 100th anniversary of the death of his brother Paul, he was recognized with the whole family of artists in 2007 by the paintings and sculptures of the museums of the city of Nuremberg by a major exhibition at the Museum for Industrial Culture.
