Los Mochis

Los Mochis is a city on the Pacific coast of Mexico, with about 275,000 inhabitants, is the third largest city of the Mexican state of Sinaloa.

History

Nearby the end of the 19th century was founded by the utopians Albert K. Owen an internationally known colony. However, they only survived for about 30 years. The actual city was founded in 1893 by the American businessman Benjamin Johnston, who made a fortune with sugar cane. He built a sugar refinery, around which developed into today's Los Mochis.

Today Los Mochis is a business town in the middle of the El Fuerte Valley, one of the most fertile regions of Mexico. Main street is Calle Gabriel Leyva with shops, market, banks, cafes and restaurants.

Climate

The climate of the city on the Gulf of California city is often very humid in the summer.

Attractions

Worth seeing are the Parque Sinaloa to the Jardin Botanico is located ( Blvd. Castro / Rosales ). Here you can see very many plant and tree species and an interesting collection of native cacti. Very interesting is the small Museo Regional in which the history of the region is presented very clearly and varied to Los Mochis.

Traffic

Los Mochis is approached by several Fernbusunternehmen. Furthermore, there is southwest of the city of Los Mochis airport. The city is also the starting point for the ride with the known for the spectacular views Railway " Chepe " to Chihuahua.

24 km south of the city, the small port city of Topolobampo on the Gulf of California. There is the ferry dock for ships to La Paz, Baja California.
