History

About the history Lötzbeurens in the Middle Ages, little is known secure. Between the Palatinate and Baden overhead masters of the County of Sponheim it was disputed until the 18th century, whether the place could be expected to Rear or Front county. 1332 was Lötzbeuren owned by the Middle county, but appears to be 1417 passed to the Rear County, but tried the rulers of the Middle county repeatedly to assert their rights, in particular bathing, Lötzbeuren for the Front county took to complete and since 1707 as from Baden property looked without so but have sustainable success. 1776 Baden finally renounced in favor of Palatinate -Zweibrücken on the site. At the same time there were also with Kurtrier dispute over the country's domination. Since the kurtrierischen serfs put the vast majority of the population, Trier expected the village to his possession. In addition, there were other claims of ownership by other men, so that the situation remained quite involved. From 1673, for example, is well known that in Lötzbeuren 36 subjects lived, of which 16 were geometry driven, 7 sponheimisch, 4 - Palatinate simmerisch, rheingräflich 4, 4 and 1 obersteinisch schmidtburgisch. Remarkably, however, were only two non- Lutheran: A sponheimischer citizens was Catholic, a palatinate - simmerischer reformed. It can be seen that Pfalz- Birkenfeld, the more influential of the two hintersponheimischen common gentlemen, ultimately, at least in ecclesiastical terms, had been able to prevail. While it is not to say exactly when and how the Reformation was introduced in Lötzbeuren, but it will probably not have been long after 1557, in which year the Rear County of Sponheim received the Reformation. To this day Lötzbeuren is marked as Protestant.

Because of the complicated relations have Lötzbeuren well understood as a "free village", in which no rights have than the Lord, which he may exercise at his serfs the inhabitants. So probably no high court, Mr recognized. In offense you will need to contact the relevant competent court gentlemen of that serfs. Therefore, only the verses can be understood with whom Pastor Caspar Streccius which 1632/33 went off at odds of Lötzbeuren to take up the Irmenacher pastorate, the congregation gave:

The present church dates from the year 1718. In its interior there are many paintings that were rediscovered some of them only in the 1950s. In addition, the church houses a single manual Stumm organ from the year 1745.

When the Rear County of Sponheim was divided in 1776, also Lötzbeuren came with the entire upper office Trarbach on Palatinate -Zweibrücken - Birkenfeld. In the succession wars of the French Revolution ended the county's history. The area came in 1815 in the Prussian possession and Lötzbeuren the mayoralty Sohren in the new circle cell is assigned. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. 1969 belonged Lötzbeuren then briefly to the Rhein- Hunsrück -Kreis, until it was annexed in 1970 at his own request the municipality in the district of Traben-Trarbach Bernkastel -Wittlich.
