Louis Gallois

Louis René Fernand Gallois ( born January 26, 1944 in Montauban ) is a French manager. Until the end of May 2012, he was Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of the aerospace and defense group EADS. At the beginning of June 2012 he was appointed Commissioner-General of French public investment.

Life

A graduate of the elite universities École des hautes études commerciales ( HEC) and the École nationale d'administration (ENA ) Gallois resigned after his training in the civil service. First, he took a position at the Treasury. 1981 brought him the then Defence Minister Jean -Pierre Chevènement in the Ministry of Research and 1988 in the French MoD.

In 1989, Gallois was appointed Chairman and CEO of the French engine manufacturer SNECMA. Subsequently, he was from 1992 to 1996 served as CEO of the EADS predecessor company Aerospatiale. In 1996 he began as a General in the French state railway SNCF. On 2 July 2006 he was appointed as the successor of Noël Forgeard Co-CEO of EADS. He led the company initially together with the German Thomas Enders. On 9 October 2006 he also took over the management of Airbus, the largest subsidiary ( with Eigenständigkeiten ) of EADS, succeeding Christian Streiff.

As a response to the crisis at Airbus, EADS ' double peak was abolished in July 2007 and appointed by Louis Gallois, CEO of EADS for the sole. His executive position at Airbus took in return Thomas Enders. Enders took over from June 1, 2012 Gallois as EADS CEO from.

Gallois is a member of the EADS Board of Directors ( EADS Board of Directors ) since 2000. He is also a member of the Conseil d'Administration ( Board ) of the Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures and Chairman of the Fonds de dotation Universcience Partenaires the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie.

In November 2012 Gallois has submitted a report with 22 possible measures to make the current weak economy of the country more competitive. Prime Minister Ayrault had commissioned the report in July.
