Louriçal is a comune ( freguesia ) in Portugal and belongs to the circle ( concelho ) of Pombal.

Geography

The place is 10 km from the district town of Pombal, 15 km from Soure and 18 km from Figueira da Foz.

History

The community was 1166 overwritten by Portugal's first king D. Afonso Henriques to the Monastery of Santa Cruz in Coimbra, and was given in 1514 by King Manuel I. city rights ( foral ). 1836 Louriçal Pombal was assigned after it belonged until then to the then government district ( comarca ) Coimbra. 1855 previously existing circuit ( concelho ) Louriçal was dissolved and annexed to the county Pombal.
