Low Spirit

Low Spirit Recordings was a Berlin record label in the field of electronic dance music.

History

The Low Spirit Recordings GmbH was founded by Maximilian Lenz ( WestBam ), Fabian Lenz ( DJ Dick), Klaus Jankuhn, Sandra Molzahn and William Roettger founded in 1985, also referred to as " co-founder of the techno scene."

The first release of Low Spirit was WestBams " 17 - This Is Not a Boris Becker Song ", which topped the dance charts reaching Berlin. The first chart success was achieved in 1989 with Westbams piece " ... and Party ". Some of the publications of Low Spirit are among the most commercially successful of the techno environment. So was " Sonic Empire " of the Members of Mayday number one in the German Single Charts, and Marusha's cover version of " Somewhere Over the Rainbow" placed as six best-selling single of 1994 WestBam expressed back over these charts success. "This techno had not been done, it has split the society, polarized and excited. " ( Westbam ) According to the journal Raveline the label has with publications such as " Celebration generation "," Somewhere Over the Rainbow " or" Sonic Empire " " German Techno - history "( Raveline ) written.

With the ongoing popularity of electronic music several sub-labels created with a specialized focus of the respective published sounds. These included the Label White Label Records ( 1991), BUG (1991 ), Amtrax (1995) and Loud & Slow (1997). A high level of awareness achieved primarily the Rave label Fire Records, published, among other information Ravers Nature and Hardsequencer and were able to achieve more chart success.

Low Spirit was connected to the Love Parade organizers Loveparade GmbH and was the owner of the techno event Mayday. Both have been sold in recent years, however. In August 2006, appeared with "Below Bohemia" by Beat Bandit the last release on Low Spirit, then the active label has ceased operations. 2007, the sales of all plates of Low Spirit was acquired by Kontor Records.
