LS (Leading Solution) Cable & System, Ltd.. ( Korean: LS 전선, 엘에스 전선 ) is a chaebol ( conglomerate ) from South Korea and the largest cable manufacturer in the country and one of the largest manufacturers in the world. LS Cable & System thus belongs in Korea to the companies with the highest market value. LS Cable & System is a manufacturer of cables and systems for power distribution in low voltage, medium voltage and high voltage segment (including submarine cable) as well as for data transmission. LS Cable & System (short: LS C & S ), headquartered in Anyang, South Korea and nine domestic factories, including six in Gumi, two Donghae and one in Anyang. In addition, LS C & S has nine other factories in China, Malaysia, Vietnam and India. LS C & S is also the owner of Superior Essex, enameled copper wire and data cable manufacturer with 21 factories spread across North America, Europe and China. LS C & S sales outlets are located in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and America. The Korean manufacturer JS Cable, Cable Gaeon, Pountek, Global Cable Incorporated, Kospace and Alutek belong to LS C & S.

History

LS Cable & System was established in May 1962 as Korea Cable Industry, but was known then in January 1969 to Gold Star Cable and was later to November 2003, as part of the LG (LG = Lucky Goldstar ) Group under the name of LG Cable. In March 2005, LS Cable & System under the name LS Cable became an independent cable company as part of the newly founded LS Group. In June 2008, LS Cable & System bought Superior Essex, a copper wire manufacturer based in Atlanta, USA, for approximately 900 million U.S. dollars to expand its influence in North America and Europe. In March 2011, LS Cable was renamed LS Cable & System in.

On April 2, 2014, the European Commission has assigned 11 manufacturers with fines totaling nearly 302 million euros in an action for a cartel for high -voltage power cable ( underground cables and submarine cables ). LS Cable has received a fine of around 11.35 million euros.
