Ľubochňa (Hungarian Fenyőháza - to 1902 Lubohna ) is a municipality in Okres Ružomberok within the Žilinský in Slovakia, with about 1,100 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the left bank of the Waag at the confluence with the stream Ľubochnianka. It lies between the mountains of Velka Fatra, just outside the boundaries of the National Park Velka Fatra in the south and the Orava highlands in the north. The large municipal territory also includes the 25 km long valley Ľubochnianska Valley. Ľubochňa is 13 kilometers west of Ružomberok and 28 kilometers east of Martin.

Transport default, the village lies on the state road 18 (E 50) and on the double-track line Žilina - Košice, with a station at the right bank of the Waag.

History

The medieval history is more tied to the Ľubochňa Valley, 1287 is mentioned in a document of Bach Ľubochnianka. Even probably in the 16th century, the valley gave a glassworks, which is, however, only in 1629 mentioned with certainty. During this time, two sawmills the castle reign of Likava worked, in addition to these facilities, however, was only an inn and a few houses. A place called Ľubochňa is mentioned until 1808, whose inhabitants were engaged in forestry mostly. Early 19th century, a forge was established with a chimney for the processing of pig iron. 1882, she was affiliated with the neighboring community Hubová and was only in 1951 to an independent municipality.

End of the 19th century was a resort here. 1903-1904 here the Electric Forest Railway Ľubochňa was built to facilitate the export of wood from the Ľubochňa Valley. The operation was discontinued in 1966.

Until 1918, the place was in the county Liptau within the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia.
