Luc Nijholt

Luc Nijholt ( born July 29, 1961 in Zaandam ) is a former Dutch football player who is currently an assistant coach at Shandong Luneng. His son Gianluca Nijholt plays for FC Utrecht.

Career as a player

Nijholt began his career in the early 80s at HFC Haarlem. He spent six years at Haarlem until he moved within two years after AZ Alkmaar and then to FC Utrecht. Between 1989 and 1990 he played in Switzerland at the BSC Old Boys Basel. Then Nijholt joined the Scottish club Motherwell FC. After three years he joined then for 175,000 pounds for English club Swindon Town 1995, for return to his home to FC Volendam, until he ended his career in 1998.

Career as a coach

He had with Storm Bird Telstar, although his old clubs Motherwell FC and Swindon Town were interested in signing his first coaching position. He supervised the crew of 2005 to 2008. For season 2008/ 09 he was then adjusted as an assistant coach at FC Red Bull Salzburg, but he left after just one year. In 2010, he coached together with Co Adriaanse, the Qatari national football team. Since 2012 he is assistant coach of the Chinese club Shandong Luneng.
