Luis Nishizawa

Luis Nishizawa Flores ( born February 2, 1918 in San Mateo, Iztacalco, Mexico City ) is a Mexican artist.

Biography

He was born the son of the Japanese Kenji Nishizawa from Nagano and the Mexican María de Jesús Flores. Nishizawa studied since 1942 at the Academia de San Carlos from the Escuela Nacional de Artes emerged Plásticas ( ENAP ) of UNAM and then formed in Japan in the form of courses in the field of ceramics and sculpture on. In 1951 he had his first solo exhibition in Mexico.

From 1955 he lectured at the ENAP, but he felt the task alone underutilized. He is one of the most important Mexican landscape painters. His style ranges from realism, abstract expressionism and poetic realism. He also deals in his work alongside painting and wall painting with wood painting and sculpture. In 1987 he became a member of the Academia de Artes. There currently teaches and works in Toluca, where he has a house from the 18th century into a museum rebuilt with Studio.
