Luis Tejada

Luis Carlos Tejada Hansell ( born March 28, 1982 in Panama City, Panama ) is a Panamanian football player. He currently plays for CD Universidad César Vallejo and National Player of Panama.

Career

The striker first played in his homeland for Tauro FC and in Colombia for Envigado FC and Deportes Tolima. In 2005, he moved to Al Ain Club in the United Arab Emirates. With Al Ain Club, he participated in the AFC Champions League. His team reached the final of this competition, which she lost to Al- Ittihad of Saudi Arabia. Although Tejada had signed a three-year contract, it was canceled at the end of the season from the squad.

In 2006 he moved back to Panama to Plaza Amador, one of the best teams in the country. But he only played a few games for the five-time champion. Conditional problems threw him back again and he got the nickname "el gordito " (thick ).

After he had recovered from his health problems, he had a short spell in the Colombian football club Once Caldas. The end of 2006 he moved back to Plaza Amador, because he had been discharged in the former Copa Libertadores winner because of disciplinary problems. In December 2006, he signed a contract with the U.S. first division club Real Salt Lake and played for the 2007 season in Major League Soccer. There he was soon dropped from the squad and subsequently moved to Tauro FC in Panama and from there to América de Cali in Colombia. He then played for CD Los Millonarios and then went for the third time to Tauro FC. Since the beginning of 2010, he plays for the club Juan Aurich.

National

Since 2001, Tejada plays in the Panamanian national soccer team. He participated with his team at the World Cup qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2006 and the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2005. In the North and Central American Championship, he scored three goals for his country and was voted the best player of the tournament.
