Luise Marie of the Palatinate

Louise Marie of the Palatinate ( born July 23, 1647 Paris, † March 11, 1679 in Aachen ) was a titular Countess Palatine of the line Pfalz- simmering and by marriage Princess of Salm.

Life

Luise Marie was a daughter of Prince Edward of the Palatinate (1625-1663) from his marriage to Anna (1616-1684), daughter of Carlo I Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua, Montferrat, Nevers and Rethel. Her father had gone to Paris in 1645 and converted to Catholicism in order to get married. So Luise Marie grew, like her sisters Anna Henriette and Benedicta Henrietta, catholic on. If she had been Protestant, they and their descendants would become heir to the throne of Great Britain, 1715 her cousin, George I ascended.

She married on 20 March 1671 at Asnières- sur -Seine as the second wife of Prince Karl Theodor zu Salm ( 1645-1710 ), High Steward of the Emperor Joseph I.
