Lutz Glandien
Lutz Glandien ( born June 4, 1954 in Oebisfelde ) is a contemporary German composer.
Life
Glandien studied from 1979 to 1983 composition with tungsten Heicking at the Academy of Music "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin, and from 1985 to 1987 when Georg Katzer in the master class of the Academy of the Arts ( Berlin). The tradition of "Experimental Theatre Songs " of the GDR is the background for his musical development. Between 1977 and 1983 he worked at the Dresden group " layer " - with as a composer, musician and actor - a particularly profiled songs theater. From this time his claim results that music is a communicative in nature art that should be heard as often as possible and think about which one can exchange or in conversation with others.
Even then Glandien began designing instruments for his compositions and build. With the political changes he expanded his territory: He specialized in Electro-Acoustic Music, established his own recording studio and created the music for more than 60 radio plays, as well as documentaries, videos, exhibitions, dance performances and sound installations. The acquaintance with the English drummer and producer Chris Cutler initiated his collaboration with musicians from the improvisational and the former avant-garde rock scene (eg Alfred Harth or Dagmar Krause ). His musical work is considered - similar to that of Heiner Goebbels is - to blow up as an example of the attempt by a composer of the academic- classical school, the limits of their own musical- theoretical training and take costed transgressions new horizons of musical composition.
Glandien in 1987 received the Grand Prize at the International Composition Competition Prix Voya Toncitch in Paris for his piano piece 365; his tape composition cut has won several awards (1989 Composition Prize at the International Forum of Young Composers of the WDR, recognition at the 4th Rostrum of Electroacoustic Music, 1992). 1990 and 1992 he received composition grants from the Berlin Senate for Culture.
For a lot of attention his project made The Ring - A musical theater that came to the premiere at the Leipzig Gewandhaus on 24 May 2013.
