Lužice (Olomouc District)

Lusatia ( German: Luschitz ) is a rural village embossed 3.5 km south-west of Šternberk in the Czech Republic. It is located on the right side of Sitka and belongs to Okres Olomouc.

History

The first historical mention is known from the year 1131. 1296 was the Einpfarrung according to Sternberg. 1409 the village of Sternberger jurisdiction was assumed.

In the village there was a volunteer fire department with fire station in the village center and a gymnastics club, which was founded in 1929. According to a 1930 census Luschitz had 555 inhabitants (307 German, 248 Czechs ).

1945 belonged to the municipal area 502.6 hectares of good farmland for all cereals, sugar, poppy seeds, canola, and alfalfa. This had the Grange with about 100 acres owned by the Prince of Liechtenstein and 19 farms and several small farmers. In addition, there were 2 restaurants with butchers, 1 forge, 2 mills, 2 grocery stores. 1945/46, the German population was expropriated and expelled. 1948/49, the total utilized agricultural area was nationalized and incorporated into production cooperatives.
