M. Ram Murty

Maruti Ram Murty Pedaprolu, M. Ram Murty cited, ( born October 16, 1953 in Guntur, India) is an Indian- Canadian mathematician who deals with number theory.

Murty in 1980 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Harold Stark PhD ( Artin 's Conjecture and Non- Abelian Sieves ). From 1982 he was at McGill University and since 1996 has been professor at Queen 's University in Kingston ( Ontario) ( Canada Research Chair on a ).

He deals with number theory and modular forms, for example, screening methods, Artin's conjecture on primitive roots, L-functions, the Langlands program, number theory, elliptic curves, Ramanujan graphs. In 1984, he exhibited with Rajeev Gupta with screening methods that Artin's conjecture on primitive roots for infinitely many numbers is true ..

He is since 1990 a member of the Royal Society of Canada since 2007 and the National Academy of Sciences ( India). In 2003 he received the Canadian Jefferey Williams Prize and the 1988 Coxeter - James prize. In 1996 he was awarded with V. Kumar Murty the Ferran Sunyer -i - Balaguer - Prize. He is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society.

His brother V. Kumar Murty, with whom he also published, is a professor of mathematics at the University of Toronto.
