Mabel Cahill

Mabel Esmonde Cahill ( born April 2, 1863 in Ballyragget, † 1905 or 1906? ) Was an Irish tennis player.

Achievements

She was the first foreigner who the women's singles at the U.S. Tennis Championships (now the U.S. Open ) could win. In 1891 they defeated in the final last year's winner Ellen Roosevelt and won the doubles together with Emma Leavitt Morgan. A year later, her the complete triumph by winning all three competitions. In individual she kept against Elizabeth Moore the upper hand in a double she won at the side of Adeline McKinlay and Mixed brought them the title with Clarence Hobart.
