Madunice

Madunice ( Madunitze German, Hungarian Vágmedence - until 1898 Madunic ) is a municipality in western Slovakia, in the vast valley on the right bank of the river Vah. The municipality is situated approximately 17 km east of Trnava and about 20 km south of Piešťany.

Location and General Description

The municipality is located on the railway line Bratislava - Žilina. Road No. 61 by the municipality. Furthermore, the municipality has a connection to the highway D1.

Culture

Church of the Virgin Mary

On the main road, the Roman Catholic Church is located. The only consisting of a nave church has an oak altar. The wood comes from an oak, under which the poet Ján Hollý is said to have written his poems.

Amphitheater

In the village there is an amphitheater, which hosts concerts, events and the onion festival.

The Onion Festival

In August, the Onion Festival takes place. This is all about the onion. There will be competitions are held; for example, awarded as the longest peeled onion peel.
