Mairead McGuinness

Mairead McGuinness (Irish Máiréad Nic Aonasa, born June 13, 1959 in Drogheda, County Louth ) is an Irish politician.

McGuinness grew up in one of the Fine Gael associated parents' home in Ardee, County Louth. She studied at University College Dublin Agricultural Economics and in 1980, when she received her bachelor of science, the first female graduate in this subject. In 1984 she received her diploma in accounting and finance. McGuinness was now working in the media, among others, the public broadcasting company Radio Telefís Éireann for the magazine Irish Farmers Journal, a local radio LMFM and also for the Irish Independent.

In June 2004 she was elected for Fine Gael in the European Parliament and dedicated himself to her political career. As a member of the European Parliament it belongs to the Group of the European People's Party and European Democrats. In May 2007, McGuinness ran unsuccessfully for a seat in Dáil Éireann.

In 2006, she was chosen by the magazine Magill to MEPs of the year.
