Maistaller Lacke

BW

The Maistaller paints is a nutrient-poor bog lake in a small wooded area in the Kufstein district of Zell. The small lake was declared a natural monument due to its typical flora and fauna in 1957. The Maistaller Coatings was created by a bowl-shaped valley that was created by the Inn in the last ice age, when he was still covered the entire valley floor.

Accelerated by various influences threatens the complete silting of the pond. In the winter of 1989, therefore, a partial restoration of the habitat was tackled.

On maps of the 18th century can be seen that there were about ten other small bog ponds earlier. Except for the Maistaller paints and two swamps but have all disappeared. Even the "little Maistaller See" is completely silted up and fallen in part a waste of space to sacrifice. This lake was only a few hundred meters near the present Stimmersee below the Maistaller mountain.
