Hechtsee

The Hechtsee is a small lake in the Brandenberg Alps in Tyrol, Austria.

Geography

The lake is located in the Brandenberg Alps west of Kiefersfelden ( Bavaria ) or north of Kufstein (Tirol ). He is approximately 0.28 km ² area of the largest and with maximum depth 57 m, the lowest of the six lakes west of Kufstein. Not far from its southern shore rises the Thierberg ( 721 m). Just a few meters from the northern shore of the lake runs the German - Austrian border and thus the border between Bavaria and Tyrol.

The largest tributary to the Pike Lake is the small pike creek that comes from a small valley between Pike and aL. The water surface is usually me to 542. The outlet of the lake, which crosses the state border after a few meters, opens after a small waterfall in the approximately 35 m below pine creek.

Other lakes in and around Kufstein are the Egelsee, the aL, the Maistaller paints, the Pfrillsee, the Stimmersee and Thier.

Tectonics and history

The four " Thierberg lakes" ( Pfrillsee, aL, Hechtsee and Egelsee ) are tectonic phenomena, small collapse basin may have been favored by cavities or other karst phenomena. The Inn Valley glacier, however, she had dispelled in the last Ice Age, carved out and dammed by moraine and meltwater sediments.

1755 and 1761 swelled the lake water on so much that he finally aufwirbelnd mud, stepped out of the banks with brown, smelly water. The reason for this strange phenomenon, the two Lisbon earthquake and its close location turned out a tectonic Transform zone ( Inn Valley ).

Hydrology

The Hechtsee is dammed for centuries by a two meter high wall. Without it, the water level would be correspondingly lower. Because the lake is made of oxygen- free, non hydrogen sulphide and also nutrient-rich water from a depth of around 20 m, is drained since the early 1990s, water from the deep by a run through of the dam tube.

Tourism

The Hechtsee is the most popular lake of Kufstein and is visited by many visitors in the summer. Just a few hundred meters behind the North Shore is located right on Pine Brook a stop of Wachtl Express.

It is said that, at the Hechtsee lived the mermaid Hechta.
