As the state government of Penang, the 25 -year-old world champion Nicol David squash and the Olympic silver medalist Lee Chong Wei in May 2009 rose to Datuk, this sparked heated debate because of the low age of the title receiver. The state government of Malacca has been criticized after it awarded the Datuk title to the Indian actor Shahrukh Khan that this State used the Melakka as the location for his films.
