Malcolm Champion

Malcolm Eadie Champion ( born November 12, 1883 on Norfolk Island; † July 26, 1939 in Auckland ) was a New Zealand swimmer. He was the first Olympic champion of his country. Up to Olympic victory of Danyon Loader in 1996, he was the only New Zealand swimmer who was able to win an Olympic gold medal.

In 1912 he was a member of the combined Australasian team at the Summer Olympics in Stockholm. There he was with the 4x200 -meter freestyle relay Olympic champion.

In 1990, he was inducted into the newly formed New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame.
