Malimba Masheke

Malimba Masheke ( * 1941 ) is a Zambian General and former Prime Minister.

In his military career Masheke was promoted to General and commander of the army.

In the government of his predecessor Kebby Musokotwane he initially from 1985 to 1988 and then Minister of Defense from 1988 to 1989 Minister of the Interior. On March 15, 1989 President Kenneth Kaunda appointed him as the successor of Musokotwane prime minister. He held until 31 August 1991 this office.

After the electoral defeat of UNIP in 1991, the office of Prime Minister was no longer occupied to this day. Masheke itself was a leading politician and chairman of the now opposition UNIP.
