The Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport ( IATA: CAN, ICAO: DNKN ) is an airport in northern Nigeria, which is located near the city of Kano. He is the oldest airport in the country and was named after Nigerian politician Aminu Kano.
Infrastructure
There are two terminals located between the runways - one for domestic flights and one for international flights. The construction of a new domestic terminal was begun in the early 2000s, however, interrupted and never completed.
The airport has two runways, with 06/ 24 is primarily for civilian flights and 05 /23 mainly used by the Nigerian Air Force.
Destinations
From Europe, the airport is currently served by Turkish Airlines and KLM, which performs its flights since 1947 without interruption. Flights to destinations outside Africa find to Beirut with MEA to Jeddah and during the pilgrimage season to Mecca instead. Within Africa, Cairo and Khartoum are served.
