Mamluk Sultanate (Delhi)

The Slave Dynasty (Persian سلطنت غلامان, DMG romanization saltanat -i ġulāmān ) presented the first Sultans of Delhi in India from 1206 to 1290. The founder of the dynasty, Qutub -ud -Din Aibak, was a former Turkish slave of Aibak - tribe, who rose to commander of the armies and administrators of the territory of Muhammad Ghori in India.

History

After Muizz ad-Din Muhammad had died in 1206 without heirs, defended Qutb -ud -Din from all rivals who wanted to come into possession of Muhammad's Indian Empire. He established his capital first in Lahore and later in Delhi, where he began to build the Qutb complex.

Qutb -ud -Din was killed in 1210 fatal if polo games and from the succession struggle was Iltutmish, another former Turkish slave, emerged as the winner. Sultan Iltutmishs rule lasted 25 years; Qutb -ud- he married Din's daughter, and with one exception all the later sultans of the dynasty were his descendants, including his daughter, Razia, who reigned for four years. Sultan Balban was also a former slave who commanded the armies of Sultan Nasir ud din and the Mongols held in check and eventually even gave the throne. After brief governments of Balban's grandchildren and great grandchildren the slave dynasty of Jalal -ud -din Feroz Khalji was overthrown by the Khalji dynasty, which had been established in Bihar and Bengal during the reign of Muhammad Ghori.
