Manhattan West

Manhattan West is the name of two planned office towers in New York City, borough of Manhattan. The building project was developed by the U.S. real estate company Brookfield Properties and the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in New York designed.

The two towers are to be built on the western edge of Midtown Manhattan, near the banks of the Hudson River. The buildings will be 370.6 meters and 285 meters high. The first tower would have it one of the tallest buildings in the city, however, significantly lower than the One World Trade Center (541 meters), which is currently under construction, and slightly smaller than the current tallest building in the city, the 381 -meter-high Empire State Building. Both skyscrapers are to obtain uniform glass facades, which shimmer in dark blue, and finish with a slightly rounded roof.

When the project was first presented to the public in 2008, it was planned to build the two towers by 2013. In the meantime, this schedule was rejected because there were few potential tenants of office space. In April 2011, the New York Times reported that the owners Brookfield Properties at the end of 2011 would like to begin construction and is to be expected for completion in 2015.
