Manuel Pestana Filho

Manuel Pestana Filho (* April 27, 1928 in Santos, † January 8, 2011 ibid ) was Bishop of Anápolis.

Life

Manuel Pestana Filho studied from 1946 to 1948 philosophy at the seminary in Ipiranga, São Paulo, and from 1949 to 1953 Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He received on October 5, 1952 in Rome, the priest.

From 1953 to 1959 he was chaplain of St. Vincent Martyr in Santos. He was professor (1955-1971) and Director (1960-1971) of the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Literature by Santos and Professor (1972-1978) and Director of the ECSC (1974-1978) of the Catholic University of Petrópolis and Professor (1974 - 1978) of philosophy courses in Sao Bento Monastery, Rio de Janeiro.

Pope John Paul II appointed him bishop of the diocese in 1978 Anápolis in Brazil. He received his episcopal consecration on February 18, 1979 in Santos Archbishop Carmine Rocco, Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil; Co-consecrators were David Picão, Bishop of Santos, and Pedro Manoel da Cunha Cintra, Bishop of Petrópolis.
